Our idea

A good start into life is important. But today midwifery and obstetrics face growing challenges and threats.
To raise awareness of this alarming situation, we initiated the international BIRTH CAFÉ movement. As well as raising awareness, BIRTH CAFÉS are our way of starting something positive to counter current developments.

Birthcafés

Everyone is welcome: At different café-tables mothers and fathers talk about their personal experiences of pregnancy and childbirth, from different generations and cultural backgrounds.
In a BIRTH CAFÉ we come together to share our birth stories, free of judgment and open to learn from each other.

Birthcafé Campaign

We want to bring about change and we want you to join us. With our support, you can organise and host a BIRTH CAFÉ in your country and your town. Via our website we publish your dates and make experiences, wishes and demands on politics public.

Step 2: Method material & Birthcafé-Coaching

When the plans get concrete, you can register (also as a group) for a Birthcafé-Coaching session. Here we will work out together what your goals are and what resources are available.

Afterwards you get a handout with a method-tool box for different types of Birthcafés.

In addition, numerous beautifully designed information flyers and postcards are available.

Step 3: Public relations

Once the date has been set, send us the dates. We will then announce your Birthcafé on this website and our social media accounts.

Your job, our deal:
After the Birthcafé, you give us feedback and send pictures and quotes, which we publish without names on our website or stories for the Birthstories portal.

In this way, the experiences shared at the café table will benefit others. Join us and empower other parents with your birthstory.
